August 21, 2004 - William H. Powell Passes Away
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Odessa Perry Powell. He is survived by his sister, Mary Elizabeth Reed (Kenneth) of Philadelphia, PA; sisters-in-law, Laura Perry Davis of Birmingham, AL, Ophelia Perry Blackburn of Cheshire, CT and Johnanna Perry of Norfolk, VA; devoted nieces, nephews, Godchildren, former teammates and friends. POWELL, WILLIAM H., long time resident of Birmingham and former Negro League baseball player, died Saturday, August 21, 2004. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 26, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church Fairfield, Rev. Robert G. Twyman, officiating, with entombment in Elmwood Mausoleum.
