Joe was an infielder-outfielder for the Algiers Giants, Birmingham Black Barons, Newark Eagles, Baltimore Elite Giants, Homestead Grays, Harlem Globetrotters, Pittsburgh Crawfords, Seattle Steelheads, New York Cubans and New York Black Yankees from 1937 to 1951 before playing Minor League baseball from 1951 to 1955.
